Back to School - Decorating your Dorm Room

Back to School - Decorating your Dorm Room

Back to school is just around the corner (yikes!), this means a lot of young adults will be moving into their own space for the first time. Whether it's a dorm room, or a small apartment shared with friends, here are a few ways to make this new space their own!
.
Artwork - nothing personalizes a space better, then artwork or photographs on the walls. They don't need to be crazy expensive; prints are more affordable then originals and you can get creative with hanging them using a string and close pins to avoid costly frames.
.
Decorative hooks - these will not only help keep you organized, but arranging them in an interesting pattern to hang colorful hats or bins on, can make the space less sterile.
Cute storage bins - most homeware stores are offering fun storage solutions these days. Keep your room organized and neat, by investing in boxes and baskets of various sizes. Look for folding bins that can be stored away when not needed and a decorative hamper to keep your clothes from piling up on the floor.
.
Cozy bedding - nothing is as comforting as climbing into soft sheets and a big fluffy comforter! Look for natural fibers like cotton or linen.
A rug to pull it all together - a rug has a way of warming up a room and most dorm rooms could use a little warmth! They are also great for covering up gross dorm room floors! Again look for natural fibers, like cotton or wool; a good quality rug will last beyond your dorm days.
.
Lighting - having different options for lighting will allow you to create different moods. String lights (there are many options these days…not just fairy lights!), a stylish task or table lamp and decorative lights, such as light boards, neon wall lights and LED strip lighting, will give you the option to turn off the overhead fluorescent and create a different mood!
.
A little bit of green - you didn't think that we would sign off without suggesting adding some greenery did you?
