Getting your Patio Ready for Entertaining.

Getting your Patio Ready for Entertaining.

We've already touched on outdoor living spaces; now we are going to go a little more into detail on how to get your outdoor living space ready to wow your guests!
 .
The first and obvious step is to do a deep clean (which I did this weekend!); if you have left all of your furniture outside during the winter, give it a good scrub and if needed maybe a new coat of paint and clean your grill, if you didn't get to it last fall.
.
Clean out any pots and get them ready for planting. Spring time on the west coast is a great time for planting; crocuses, daffodils, hyacinths, pansies and violas are just a few that will thrive.
.
Invest in a good umbrella (if you can find one!), spring on the coast brings lots of showers and since we aren't entertaining indoors just yet, we need to ensure our plans don't get rained out! On the flip side, once the summer is in full swing, you will want to ensure that your guests aren't roasting!
An outdoor rug will instantly define the space, and make it cozier by bringing in some colour and texture. Adding some outdoor pillows will accomplish the same thing, plus it will help update your furniture from year to year.
.
Stock a bar cart that can be kept under cover; include drinking glasses, a water pitcher, an ice bucket and tongs. Pre-making drinks ahead of time that can be kept in a decorative carafe is a great idea; just add ice and serve.
